Clients often seek counseling for a variety of reasons, but often to alleviate emotional distress, learn coping skills, and gain understanding and clarity into certain aspects of their lives. One common goal of treatment is often to help clients develop insight into how their thoughts and feelings impact overall emotional health and how their relationships in life (i.e., home/family, work, school, marriage, friendships) impact their overall emotional well-being.
Another goal would be to learn and understand more about how their childhoods, family of origin, and upbringing often impact emotional needs, decision-making, and relationships that develop later in adulthood. I work with young and middle-aged adults and couples, as well adults 55+ and offer short-term (brief) and long-term (in-depth) counseling with the ultimate goal of serving a culturally diverse client population.
